InVitro Fertilization (IVF) involves stimulating ovaries with a combination of fertility medications and hormones (generic or recombinant , based on preference and affordability) and retrieving oocyte(s) from the ovarian follicles. The retrieved oocytes will be incubated along with the male partners sperm in the same culture dish in the laboratory to create embryos which can even be cryopreserved for future use . The resultant embryo will be transferred into the uterine cavity after promptly preparing the endometrial lining to ensure maximum receptivity. These steps typically occur over a period of approximately one to three months , which is unique to each couples based on their past history , need for other procedures to ensure better odds of success and so on. This is called an IVF cycle(1.Stimulation, 2.Ovum Pick Up, 3.Endometrial Preparation, 4. Embryo Transfer).
